give him a special treat when you leave

just remember, when my pug was little we went through the same thing. My husband gave him his pair of socks that he had worn all day prior working in the yard. This helped! Anything with your scent will work, tshirt. When you do come back home, do NOT give him attention. Put your stuff down, change, do whatever you need to do... 5 minutes later have him sit, shake your hand then give him attention. He must learn your attention is earned.

Practice this. Go out the house as if your leaving and shut the door. Don't give the dog chance to scratch at the door, then go straight back in. After 2-3 seconds, and give it a big hello and a treat. Keep repeating this until the time gets longer and longer with him not scratching at the door. Then going back in biiiiiiiiiiig hello and a treat.
Eventually your dog will realise, your not leaving for good and you'll be back soon and won't feel stressed out. Plus he gets a treat for waiting too. And hell, that's worth the wait. Obviously you can eventually stop treating him when you get home if you want to.

Stuff a hollow bone or a kong with peanutbutter, cheese or, even smushed up white bread. Usualy he'll be so distracted working that out he'll not notice you left.

Open the door and squirt him with cold water from a garden hose.
OK, be nice and give him a bone to choke on.

separation anxiety. yes, he misses u. if he hasn't been neutered, do so. try leaving on the radio and giving him a special toy or something of yours with your scent on it only to be given to him when u leave the house. try vigorous exercise before u leave to tire him out.

I don't think there's any way to make your dog stop doing that. He misses you, that's all.
