Depend on good to see them through their hard times? Why do they ask God for the strength or ask for the power.. when you have in yourself to do it yourself? Why would you ask your superior being to give you something you already have?
If there is a God then why would you put such a burden on him when he created you with free will and the power within?

I believe in God... but probably not the same way you do... My god isn't one that requires a novel to follow and ridiculous rules to uphold. My God gave me what I need to use in life from birth and I ask NO MORE.

Christians have better mental health than Atheist? how do you figure that out exactly? With Science? isn't that Ironic!!! I'd say a Mentally stable person doesn't get as petty as to look up who has better mental health than another group of people.

Wow. I am impressed by all the attention You're getting in the middle of the night -- well, the middle of MY night.

Wyco, i am going to tell You something You will find hard to believe, at first, but i hope You will think about it. You are blessed with Wisdom, and You are (most likely) a "higher" soul than most. That's why You don't understand other theists. Keep trying, keep asking. You are a Teacher.

Look at how the main portion of Your question TEACHES. It teaches a LOT, if people will only pay attention to what You're saying. And how about a word of gratitude to this Higher Power who has so richly blessed us all!

It is not so much that you rely on God to give you more strength, it is more like asking God to help you discover your own inner strength that He has already bestowed upon you. Also, God is an infinte and perfecy being with the power to create and destroy the entirety of humanity and all of existence; therfore, it probably is not that big of burden for God. As for free will, have you ever been in a situation where you do not know which choice to make? You cannot decide which route is better for you? Or been faced with a moral decsion of right and wrong and because the wrong is so flattering it makes hard to chose the good? Free will is not always a great blessing and asking our "superior being" for guideance sometimes might make the diffrence between saying no to that last drink before driving home and killing a child in a drunk driving accident. Ask God for help to find inner strength to chose the correct choice in our free will not to be granted some outter existing power.

God created man with freewill but we do not always make the right decisions in our walk of faith. God wants us to rely on him as a heavenly father as a counselor, director and friend. The power within actually comes from relying on God and talking to him in prayer for direction. Focusing on the bad times with a positive attitude while asking for strength reinforces the bond between God and his follower. Already having the power is a wonderful concept to try and reinforce the individual but the true strength comes from the faith that God will uphold you and carry you through the trials of life.

You're right. And why is it that when we were children, we relied on our parents to provide food, shelter, clothing, all the necessities of life that we needed. After all, we were three years old. We could have done this ourselves.

It's the same thing. We are so young in God's eyes. He wants us to depend on Him and He is more than willing to help us through life - He doesn't want us to be alone through everything or have to do it all ourselves. He wants to spoil us - in a good way.

We aren't a "burden" to God, just as our children aren't a burden to us. He wants to be in our lives and show us how much He loves us. He gave us the free will to choose whether or not to love Him in return.

Well, the answer is this...

God gives me breath every morning. If I had the power within myself, I'd be an immortal. But I have no power, neither does anyone else that will see death one day.

Where are the folks that depended on themselves in times passed? In the grave with their names on an epitaph?

I pray to God because He IS MY STRENGTH in this life and the next. Praise the Lord.

God bless you.

God can never be burdened with our prayers and need for strength and guidance. Its not a matter of asking for what we already have...sometimes you may not feel you have the strength to get you through terrible times. So you call on your Father who is a way maker. You pray to the Lord because he answers prayers. God sent His son to save us so why wouldn't we seek Him. After all the song says "All of my help comes from the Lord."

God has no limits like you or I, through him all things are possible. Some people at any given time can become without hop maybe you just havent been ..... uh uhm"Clears throat"..been blessed with those times or "hard enough" times where you've been hit so hard that there seems to be no possible way out.

Us Christians depending on God isn't a burden to Him.
God helps those who help themselves, is that what you are trying to say?
If you don't believe in God, why does it matter what others do with their lives?

According to the Bible, God is the Power, not man. Mankind does not have power in and of themselves, and it is that delusion that brought us all the problems we have today through the sinful choices of Adam and Eve.

Only by the acknowledgment of our absolute weakness and powerlessness, can we allow the God of Power to be our strength and help in times of need.
