Was the truck doing this before you had the 4L issue?

The 83 Chevy I mentioned in the answer to your other question does what you're describing all the time. I attribute it to driveline slop.

Do you have anything done to the auto trans to handle extra power like an ATS, Suncoast or other performance transmission upgrade? They can shift into gear pretty harshly.

If your talking about 4 wheel to 2 wheel or 2 wheel to 4 wheel it does jump clunk jerk>So have the brakes on lightly but have the truck able to move> If on the fly shift>If it feels out of the norm take to dealer as it's still under warranty>And you can not make turns on the hard in 4x4 or it will jerk the steering wheel only straight >

It definitely shouldn't leap. I'm a car salesman and would recommend returning to the dealership for inspection before matters worsen. It may be attributed to the incorrect 4X4 operation or just "good timing".

if its on dry ground it will do that until it comes back out of 4 wheel drive,is probably binding, that should release and it should be ok,all of them will do that at times,as soon as you go forward it should kick out,if it don't you may have transfer case problems with it,the transfer case for the diesels doesn't work any different than the gas engines do,basically they all lock in or out,if it has lock out hubs make sure both are unlocked if your not using the 4 wheel drive, good luck on it ,it will take you some time to get use to it.
