I got arrested a few weeks ago in Wisconsin for DUI and had to spend a mandatory 12 hours in county jail. When I was released the deputy had paperwork with my picture and other information on it. When I go to court, will they give me a copy of that stuff if I want it?

Your booking records are a matter of Open Records law, and can be requested. There is a medical screening that would not be included due to HIPPA regulations, unless you signed a medical release.

And there he goes again..... Trooper blah blah blah's response, as usual, leaves a lot of accuracy to be desired.

Any document that the prosecution intends to include in its case is called discovery, which, upon demand, must be provided by the prosecution to the defendant free of charge.

Don't 'request' it. Demand it. Demand whatever this HIPPA stuff is that Trooper blah blah blah mentions, too. Don't simply request it: demand it. If it might contain material pertaining to your defense, you, as a defendant have the authority to demand it, without paying even a penny for copying it. Failure of them to provide it upon your demand can become an act of withholding evidence, which is not only a crime, but a very lucrative souce of lawsuits.

YES
IT IS YOUR RECORD UNDER THE FREEDOMS OF INFORMATION ACT 1973
ACCORDINGLY YOUR MEDICAL RECORDS CAN BE RELEASED ALSO TO YOU AND ONLY YOU UNDER HIPPA.
HIPPA ONLY ALLOWS YOU TO RELEASE MEDICAL INFORMATION TO WHOM YOU WANT THE INFORMATION TO GO TO(I-WIFE, NOBODY, INS CO ETC)
YOU WILL ONLY GET THE BOOKING INFORMATION, PICTURE, ID ,FINGERPRINT ON BOOKING CARD OR SHEET, AND HIPPA INFO. ALL OTHER INFORMATION ABOUT ARREST LIKE OFFICERS REPORT ETC IS DEPARTMENTAL INFORMATION AND IS NOT A PART OF THE BOOKING FOR INFORMATION EXCEPT THE CHARGE USED TO BOOK YOU.

No, they keep it. It's called a record.

You just get a copy of it... I think.
