I have a 1993 ford taurus 3.8L V6 automatic GL. If you think you might have a "vacuum leak" then how would you check for it?

one way is to take a can of wd40 and spray the suspected areas while the engine is running , if the idle speeds up at any one spot there is a leak there

Use WD40 and spray it where you think the leak may be... it won't hurt a thing and if there is a vacuum leak the engine will usually rev up a little to let you know..... Mechanic for some 30 years

check for leaks around hoses and the hoses themselves. if the hoses feel spongy then it's time for them to be replaced.
