I always get my hair cut and colored at Jc Penney salons. I just moved to a new area in Louisiana because my husband is air force. Today I go into the salon at 10:45 to have a foil high lights and a trim done to my hair. (I should also mention I have short hair.) Stylist washes and conditons my hair... and then adds some other conditioning treatment to my hair. I cannot see what she is putting in my hair because my head is back in the sink. I did not request for any treatment nor did she tell me what she was adding to my hair. She gets done drys my hair and i go to the register and pay. My total is $186.00. Im totally shocked at how much it was. I pay it. I did not get a receipt untill I hadda ask for it. I walk out and take a look at what they charged me for. I could not beleive my eyes. So i go back and tell them why was I over charged? I also say .... my hair looks great... but not a $186.00 great! They try to explain my that my hair highlights are $150.00

the hair condion treatment (that i didnt ask for) was $12.00, the hair cut was $24.00. I hadda argue with them and all that they would refund me was $57.00. I told the assiant manager that is still way too much. Then they try to bribe me with shampoo and conditioner, I was NO! I would perfer more money back. So she gave me an extra $20.00 back. This then dropped my total down to $109.00. So... what do you guys think about this? I dont think i will ever go back to another jc penny agian and get my hair done.

That was a total rip off, I work at a JcPenney Salon, and we all have the same prices, and we have never ever ever had anyone spend that much for highlights, even when we add extra for additional solution and length. That is a rip off, call the salon manager and complain, you will get some kind of compensation. Tell them that another JcPenney Salon associate said that was way too much! Remind the manager that the stylists are supposed to quote the price before they even start.

This is the breakdown of what they probably charged you for:

Foil/Full Highlights-$70-$80
Haicut-$24-$28
Additional Solution (can be added multiple times)-$10
Length-$5-15
Thickness-$5-15

Plus, did you have this done by a Master, Senior, or Designer stylist? They have 3 different price ranges. Master is the most expensive.

Check out your receipt, it will show you exactly what they charged, and you should bring that in to the manager and ask them about it.

This happened to me as well before. I only asked for a relaxer and a trimming which is usually ~$65 but I had a new stylist that one day, and I ended up paying over 100 dollars!

It turned out they had charged me for a deep conditioner, and a full cut when I just wanted the ends clipped, and all this other stuff I didnt even ask for.

JC Penney has a great salon; if you go back just make sure to make it clear what you want and dont want done so they cannot charge you extra for things you didnt want. I hate how they do that to people..

The average price here in Baton Rouge is about $125. A haircut is' about $30 for a cut.

That's really high. I have long hair and have had it done twice in my life. The got darker streaks put in my hair and along with the haircut it was only $75.00. And that was at a decent hair salon too.

Medium length hair because it is easy to be able to handle and you can still perform most of the hairstyles
