I hope so. If the God of the Bible existed he/she would not approve of this medieval punishment.

In several spots in the Bible, it is clearly defined that God is the judge, not people. It is not our place to put people to death, that is God's work. Capital punishment falls under the laws of man. God never says someone's redemption is unobtainable, but Man's law assumes so. There have also been a lot of wrongful convictions and some very interesting statistics on how many people have been wrongly killed or the executions went WRONG. People consider capital punishment great because it is less people to support in prisons, the victims and their families get relief, and the person is no longer a danger to society. I don't agree, someone being locked up and alone is good enough.

It is true that there are many Bible passages (especially in the OT) that support capital punishment, often for relatively mild offenses:

- Adultery (Leviticus 20:10)
- Blasphemy (Leviticus 24:16)
- Breaking the Sabbath (Exodus 31:14 & 15)
- Disobedient children (Exodus 21:15 & 17; Leviticus 20:9)
- Homosexuality (Leviticus 20:13)
- Not being a virgin on your wedding night (but only if you're a woman - Deuteronomy 22:13-22)

But, there are many passages (esp. in the New Testament) that are ANTI-death penalty. For example, Matthew 5:38-39 insists that violence shall not beget violence. James 4:12 says that God is the only one who can take a life in the name of justice. Leviticus 19:18 warns against vengeance (which, really, is what the death penalty amounts to). In John 8:7, Jesus himself says, "let he who is without sin cast the first stone."

There are many, many practical problems with capital punishment (that I won't get into here), but purely from a moral standpoint, I can't imagine that Jesus would support it. True Christians shouldn't, either.

Capital Punishment was instituted by God under the Old Testament Law of Moses, so no, we are not against capital punishment.

Self protection is between the few motives for a licit killing. present day Western societies take killings out of the palms of persons and vest it interior the State. This makes the killing of criminals difficulty to regulation. on a similar time as regulation isn't suitable, that's greater in basic terms than the mob. reformatory technologies that's argued makes killing of criminals pointless for the protection of the community. that's the reason capital punishment, as quickly as needed, might now not be so. because of the fact the technologies improves, the imperfection of state technique for executing criminals turns into further and extra cloth to the determination to maintain capital punishment alt all. that's the character of the communicate of Christians as to the thank you to coach the instructions of Jesus and the Apostle that we've stored and exceeded from technology to technology to this significant social determination of holding capital punishment. besides to scripture plenty concept an writing approximately killing in conflict and killing criminals has been performed. So it somewhat is not the actuality of scripture or custom it somewhat is changing, however the circumstances that we detect ourselves in and the strategies that we've that play into what Jesus could coach. Christianity is a faith based with the help of somebody unjustly achieved as a offender. that's a pious act to make useful that that not ensue immediately to any of his brothers or sisters.

For those who are against capital punishment: are you against Muslims cutting off the heads of Christians if necessary to preserve the name of Allah?

If you read your Bible, you'll see G-d not only condoned capital punishment, but He or It authorized wholesale genocide and enslavement of the women and children.

Read your Old Testament.

Jesus might have been against capital punishment. But Yahweh was sure a bloody and jealous god.

Medieval? Read your Bible. Go way back to the times of the armies of Moses and Joshua and the descendants of the Hebrew slaves. Their g-d was one of the blood-thirstieth and most judgemental gods in the history of religion. And yet we cloak Christianity in all sorts of white garments, making it seem well, more marketable.

No.

In fact, the Bible states many different conditions where capital punishment is appropriate.

This includes:
Adulterers
Disobedient Children
Blasphemers
Homosexuals
Murderers
Witches
Rape victims who don't cry loud enough

And for people who:
Break the sabbath
Have sex with animals
Commit incest
Steal slaves
Are not virgins during the night of their wedding
Worship another god.

True Christians will believe in it completely because God ordained it as the ultimate punishment for murder. Capital punishment is totally different from 'murder'. It is God-ordained justice for taking the life of another person, which again, is murder. As in the story of Cain and Abel, Cain murdered Abel, and was punished for it by death. A TRUE Christian will abide by God's law completely - not just bits and pieces or certain parts or verses of His word, but ALL of it. Capital punishment IS biblical (see verse in Genesis below).
Any Christian who abides by God's word WILL believe in the death penalty because God ordained it in his law, giving man the right to carry out capital justice/punishment for murder. It's in God's word, but anyone who says they're Christian, but is against the death penalty, is against what God has commanded in His law.

Also, it seems that in today's day and age, more and more people are against putting murderers to death and are sooooo much more concerned about the criminal that has taken the life of another, yet the person that the murderer has killed is dead and cannot be brought back. The murderer should be allowed to breathe the same air, eat three square meals a day, work out in a gym and play ball in the prison field and have a grand old time for taking the life of another person? I don't think so! No, I don't mean vengeance - I mean justice. It isn't fair or right that the murderer should be allowed to life out the rest of his/her life while they committed a capital crime. Allowing them to walk the earth and live is NOT punishment - keeping them behind bars for life is NOT punishment! In today's day and age, it's pleasure because, as I said, they get to eat three meals a day, work out in a gym, even get to earn money while in prison and, at the same time, the family of the person that was murdered suffers a terrible loss - a loved one that cannot be brought back! They're loss is permanent!

The commandment "Thou shalt not kill" refers to murder - the senseless killing of another human being, whether it be because of greed, jealousy, hatred and bias, skin color/racism, whatever - it's murder regardless. That commandment has nothing to do with 'capital punishment'. The word 'kill' in the commandment refers to murder. Capital punishment is justice - NOT murder!
Genesis 9:6 - Whoso sheddeth man's blood, by man shall his blood be shed: for in the image of God made he man.

The Bible says obey the laws of the land.If by man mans blood is shed by man his blood shall be shed.By the way,if the law says a person must die for cold blooded murder then there is no reason to complain when they are frying.
