How do I connect my PS3 to the internet via a cable modem?

I have a cable modem and I wanted to know if i could connect the ps3 to the internet through it.

Sometimes direct connection won't work. However - try just plugging modem directly to PS3 (If it's RJ-45 cable). Now - try to connect via Network settings. Sometimes you'll need to call your provider for an additional details. If it didn't work - get a router. Good wired router (get one with VPN support) will cost you ~40$. I had to use router - direct connection didn't work out.

First, take an Ethernet cable, plug one end into your PS3, and the other end into the cable modem. Then, run a coaxial cable from the cable modem to a coaxial jack. Then, plug in the cable modem's power supply, and you're ready to go!

use the ethernet cable to router. you may have to reset the router.

Goto settings

Goto network settings

Goto network connection, select enable

Goto Internet connection settings just below internet connection-

Push yes when it says you may be disconnected

Select wired or wireless

For wireless use scan or enter manually

Follow on screen instructions.

Once that is set up return to main menu and go to network near the right

You plug one end of the ethernet cable into the PS3 and the other end into your modem.

ALSO- go to network, and set up your connection, it's incredibly easy. Next time consider reading your OWNERS MANUAL.
