Well, at its core, Trichotillomania is an anxiety disorder. There has been no medication approved specifically for Trichotillomania...however, Anafranil has been the most successful medication used to treat Trichotillomania. SSRI's can also help--those include medications like Prozac, Zoloft, and Luvox. Risperdone and Klonopin are often added to the SSRI, and can help a lot.
Also: "Since those with trichotillomania do not report pain, drugs to decrease pain thresholds have been tried as well. Other drugs that are given to treat this disorder include buspirone, lithium (Lithobid), naltrexone, paroxetine (Paxil), valproate, and the antipsychotic drug, quetiapine."
Of course, no medication should be taken if you are not under the supervision of a therapist--you will never get better if you just take medication--you must see a therapist as well--so continue to do so!
Good luck. Stay strong.

The first cite below told me a lot I didn't know. It seems a kind of obsessive-compulsive thing. The second cite might have limited success with Trich.

Since you're seeing a counselor already, ask about Fluoxetine.

Maybe you'll find out what's nudging you to your behavior(s) and if you and your counselor make some things better, the rest will get better. Good luck with everything.
