Because we are a nation that has been mightily blessed by the God they are trying to push out and get rid of. The God who has blessed this nation above all others has been replaced by the other little gods, money, power, sex, and puny, ignorant, prideful people. Little do they realize that this nation is headed for the judgment of God. He is slowly removing the hedge of protection and the blessings. We have had and are getting warnings and they are being ignored. We desperately need God because it is going to get worse and it will not matter how many God Bless America signs are put up.
May the mercy and grace of the Lord be with you.

The same reason why you would fuss if the dollar bill said "In Odin we trust"

Because you don't believe in that deity. Some people don't believe in any deity (me). It's kind of hypocrital to endorse your religion when one of the things this country was founded on was religious tolerance.

It's also quite vain to believe that God favors our country. Do you know why the "one nation under God" was added in the pledge?

I have a problem with forcing small impressionable children to say an oath before every school day when 98% have no idea what it means. I think it should be taught, and when they're old enough to understand what it means (and pronounce "indivisible"), then it should be done by choice. I don't have a problem with God being in it, I have a problem with the whole thing. Don't take me as being unpatriotic, I stand and cover my heart when our national anthem is playing and I do say the pledge, but why do we need to brainwash 4 year olds to recite it when they don't understand it's meaning? Teach it to them and let them understand it first, THEN have them say it if they believe it.

The problem is - which god? Catholic? Protestant? If Protestant, which sect? Methodist god? Lutheran? Baptist? Presbyterian?

Or is it the god of the Muslim? Orthodox? Anglican? Hindu? Shintu? Buddhists? Native American?-if so, which tribal religion? Cherokee? Abenaki? Chippewa? Sioux? Cheyenne?

See where this leads?

And, how about those who don't believe any of the god thingie?

Frankly, gods and religion belong in the home and church - not in the public pervue.

As for crime, criminals are the result of poor or no education, really bad parenting, intense fear and ignorance - and a false sense of entitlement - like the world owes them a living. Bad parents raise thugs, good parents raise good kids.

A god has nothing to do with any of it.

It's to do with the separation of the church and state.

Also bear in mind that your God (I'm assuming you're a Chrsitian) is exactly the same God that the Muslim fundamentalists worship, and kill thousands of people in his name.

It's blind faith and intolerance of others that is causing most of the world's problems at the moment.

Atheists don't want to be associated with a God, and especially don't want him to have a hand in their government. There should be a separation between the church and the government.

You only have to look to the former Taliban rule in Afghanistan to see the problems that occur when a government is ruled by the church.

we truth not your lying god.... you claim your god is all knowing... yet the concept of the earth is flat... comes from the church.... the church also claimed the law of gravity was a trick by the devil... your all knowing god inspires some pretty dumb thinking... evolution is just as much a law of nature as gravity and look to see how you christians are reacting to it... why is it the christians fear truth... because it shows your god as the liar of the earth.... he knows nothing... so now you can know what the bible means when it says "the devil will be called god of the earth" and " the devil will deceive many" ...
