I read somewhere (on the internet, I think) that if your dog's ears are really hot and the nose is warm and dry it is an indication of a fever. Basically it said: hot ears and dry nose = sick; normal ears and cold, wet nose = well. Is this true? Just wondering. Thanks.

Nope, not true! The nose can be warm and dry due to climate and air temperatures. Ears usually feel warm because they have less hair on them. The only true indicator of a fever is to take your dog's temperature with a rectal thermometer--vets usually use digital ones that take a few seconds. A normal temp is about 100F-102.5F.

Not always true. My dog has hot ears almost all the time and when he first wakes up or gets done playing his nose his warm and dry. The only accurate tell is a rectal thermometer. I bought one from the baby aisle at Walmart and I use it consistently because I'm a worry wart.

No, it is not true. You can use a people ear thermometer to get a general idea, but the most accurate is the tried and true rectal themometer. Temp should be between 98.5 and 102.5

Not a reliable indicator. Use thermometer......98 to 102 is normal.

Not necessarily. It can be a give away to fever or just a worry maker.

I have always used it as a guide.
I think it is true to a big degree.
God bless.
