The word theory has a number of distinct meanings in different fields of knowledge, depending on their methodologies and the context of discussion.
In science, a theory is a comprehensive explanation of a given set of data that has been repeatedly confirmed by observation and experimentation and has gained general acceptance within the scientific community but has not yet been decisively proven.

No.
They are incapable of distinguishing "theory" from "wild guess" or "opinion".
As used in SCIENCE, a theory is an explanation or model based on Observation, Experimentation, and Reasoning, especially one that has been Tested and Confirmed as a general principle helping to Explain and Predict natural phenomena.
Why can't Christians understand there is a HUGE difference between what they say a theory is and what scientists define a theory as?
They don't WANT to! They use the honesty of science against it...
Scientists KNOW they don't know everything... Christians CLAIM to know god exists, but there is not a shred of proof to back this claim. That's why they say you have to believe on "faith."

You want a Christian to define Scientific theory? Is the Christian definition any different? You do know it's all right to be Christian and still believe in evolution right?

Boxy Brown is wrong, actually. We are not "better than everyone else". Christians primarily define themselves as preachers, wanting to spread the word about Jesus and everything he has done for us. When people ask me about my faith, I usually answer them with stories coming from the bible. It's mostly what I believe, and not what the dictionary says. Go with your heart, God will tell you what to say.

A hypothesis that has gone through much testing with repeated sucess, but is not yet considered scientific law. Technically it's still a hypothesis. A hypothesis is a scientific educated guess to what will happen during a test, with the hope that the test results will corralate with the end results of the hypothesis.

An explanation of an event (especially in science) that accounts for the event but is not accepted as final because parts of the explanation, are not " yet " proven. What is your theory?

As I understand it, it is a belief with no evidence to support it and cannot be proved, because it was not observed. Just like the theory of evolution, the big bang, and creation.
