What programs compete with Microsoft Project? Has anyone used Primavera or Sciforma's applications?

Can anyone recommend scheduling software that competes with MS Project? I've been using version 2000 and have been plagued by its numerous bugs. I am considering purchasing a more recent version but would first like to review competing applications.

If you can let me know how the other applications differ from MS Project I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

I have been using MS Project for years, unfortunately it is not great, but is better than anything else.
