What's the minimum commitment to join the coast guard?

all military contracts are for EIGHT years. as littles as three years of that will be Active Duty, although the majority of jobs require 4-6 years.

ALL military "commitments" are 8 yrs. That being said, you can get a 2,4,6 or 8 yr. enlistment the remaining yrs. you would be in the IRR (Inactive Ready Reserve)
Dont let anyone fool you. Your service isnt OVER until you complete 8yrs.
