The nine noble virtues of Asatru:

Courage,Truth, Honor
Fidelity, Discipline, Hospitality
Industriousness, Self-Reliance, Perseverance

are based on the tales written down in the Poetic and Prose Eddas, and the Sagas and myths of the Norse or Teutonic Pantheon of Gods.

Asatru is a religion based on Norse or Teutonic Mythology. People have been following this spiritual path since about 2008 years B.C.E (Before Common Era).

Asatru is considered a pagan spiritual path; although most of the pratictioners of Asatru prefer the term Heathen Spiritual path.

Asatru does not have a list of do's an don'ts per say, (such as the 10 commandments for those who worship the God of Abraham), just concepts such as "The Nine Noble Virtues", so you have to decide how your own actions fit within or without the scope of the Nine Noble Virtues..

There are Nine Noble virtues because thhere are nine realms on Yggdrasil, the world tree, and Odin hung on Yggdrasil for nine days and nights.

The only problem I have with the nine noble virtues, they are difficult to live by. If you try to live by the nine noble virtues in this day and age, a large number of people think you a bit odd, as they do not expect people trying to live by these ideals. In the world today, it seems that it is every person for his or herself, and cut the throat of your neighbor just to get ahead for yourself. People will lie, cheat and steal just to get what they want.

If you say you are going to do something, and then you continue with what you said you were going to do, it tens to surprise a number of people.

What are they? The first time I heard of "asatru", I thought it was some species of exotic birds.

They seem fine to me. They could probably be condensed a little bit, but that's about it.
