if a guy with an on/ off gf tells you he likes you, but says he doesnt want to hurt you, does it really mean that. or does it mean "i dont want to be with you, sorry"

It means this is going to hurt you if you have any emotional attatchment.
He wants you to be friends, the kind where you make him happy, then he goes off and has a good time everywhere, with everyone else and only shows up when he is down and out, desperate, in need of a pick 'me' up. In other words he is not in love with you, never will be, but likes to have a good time with you ( friends - nothing serious though)

It means he doesn't want to hurt your feelings b/c he doesn't share the same feelings that you have for him and he doesnt' want to lead you on any further just to let you down even worse. I've heard this once before when a boyfriend of mine moved away and I know if we tried to make it work long distance I would've been in even more pain. You can trust him when he says this but it does mean he doesn't want to be with you.

It means his intentions aren't the best. He may want to be with you right now, but only because he can't get what he really wants, possibly with the on/off girlfriend. He wouldn't be committed to you and would end up hurting you, not because he wants to hurt you, but because he wants to use you until he can "upgrade" in his mind.

It means he's going to hurt you. He knows that he doesn't feel the same way about you, and either by word or deed he's eventually going to make that known. It doesn't necessarily mean he doesn't want to be with you, he probably likes others just as much as you. I bet you can do better. He warned you, now protect yourself.

It means he is a wimp and does not have the nerve to tell you what he really feels. Probably looking for someone that will provide sex with no commitment. You probably want a relationship, right? Steer clear of these guys, they WILL hurt you.

If the guy is a person who is genuine, it means that he wants to go slow because he thinks to much of you to hurt you. If the guy is a person who tries to impress everyone, it means sorry. I am sure that you can tell if he is genuine or tries to impress everyone. Just look around at what he does.

It can mean a lot of things but in thsi day and age it either means he's out to dump you, he's using you or he doesnt want to be with you. In rare situations he might actually mean some good.

it can mean that he doesnt want to have you fall for him and he doesnt fall for you ( which he cannot control) or he cares so much about you that the idea of dating you and breaking up would cause him SO much pain it would be unbearable.... and i dont know what else.. it could mean that he doesnt want to break something if you have sex lol like in my super ex gf... that would be scary as f u c k

It means hes a JACKA$$ and all he cares about is his feelings and his d!ck... but he wants to create the illusion that he somehow cares about you.. Don't fall for it, if he really didn't want to hurt you he would do everything he could to make you happy or just let you know that he wasn't capable of that and leave.
