I have know clue why people tell children about Santa. Its a lie. Why are you going to lie to a kid when you punish that kid for lying to you. My friend always yells at me when I say that and says ITS SO THEY CAN HAVE A GOOD CHILDHOOD! How in the world does believing that a guy brings you presents once a year give you a good childhood? Wouldn't knowing your parents love you and buy you presents make your childhood better? My Mom's friend says Its so kids can believe in magic. Why would a kid need magic when they have Jesus! He is way more fun then Santa! He kept a lot of people from Hell! Not going to hell seems way better then a fat guy coming from the chimney! People make Christmas all about presents when they are supposed to be celebrating our saviors birth! I know I want presents but the best gift ever was Gods gift! JESUS! ETERNAL PEACE IN HEAVEN! GOOD JOB JESUS!

you mean like st nicholas? he existed a long time ago. sorry, but the grown-ups I know don't believe in santa. we don't want to squash the childrens fun though so we don't tell them. sooner or later kids find out anyways don't they?
personally, I hate playing the santa bit with the kids. Christmas is all about Jesus, peace, love and joy NOT santa and rudolph and buying up the stores.

Ok, that was interesting. Yesterday, one of my 7th graders asked me if I believed in Santa. I was shocked to say the least since I figured out that when I was 8. Anyway I told him I believe in the spirit of Santa. So, I don't believe that Santa is real, but I do believe in the spirit of Santa. ((((Zilla))))

Not necessarily... I'm 17 with a 3 year old sister... I mention Santa all the time with her and I don't think that he's real... you can mention a lot of things without thinking they're real... like unicorns and purple people eaters and 516 ft. tall orange and yellow walruses with purple and green poka dots... see, i mentioned all of those things and don't believe in a single one... see my point

C'mon, dude, nobody swears by Santa Clause. Is it not written in the Old Testament, "Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain"? Yes, it is one of the Ten Commandments. The disdain for anything remotely related to Christianity is such that if the Bible said "thou shalt not spit on the sidewalk", people would have to wear hip-waders just walk downtown.

I didn't teach my children to believe in Santa, but there is a huge difference between pretending and lying when it comes to children.

of course I believe in Santa, his picture in on Beano M blog, he has been on TV for the last several days.
and we all know that seeing is believing.
after all I read a lot of post by Atheist about not believing in God because they haven't seen him.

Jesus Christ brings me blessing every day, and Santa brings me presents every Christmas.

believing does have it's benefits.

if you don't believe in either one, you might want to rethink your position on that.

The (non-commercialized) Santa is an imagination of/metaphor for love. From this viewpoint, Santa IS real--one of the "realest" things there is.
