do the marines show any signs of giving up the use of the M-14 in the field or for training anytime in the next five to ten years? the gun's got a hold of my heart and i'd hate to see it be taken out of service before i'm old enough to join the corp (4 years)

Just when it looks like they are going to scrap them- The Iraq war comes along and a guy needs that big .308 to knock down mud huts! Thankfully they kept them and had the sense to re-issue them. Pretty much only DF was fielding them until about 1 year into Iraq.

i used it in vietnam,i still favor it over the m-16, it has a knockdown power of a winchester
