It all begins with a secure border.
Without it, there is No Homeland Security.
USA has been invaded from the south and our government turns a blind eye.

Just as rddnck says, immigrating legally takes time and money, but it is the only way to do it. I immigrated to Holland in 1997 to marry my Dutch boyfriend, then last year we both came to California, he as a legalized immigrant. It again took time and money, but we did it the right way. I learned Dutch while living in his country, and he now has learned English to live in my country..
Why is it so difficult to catch and send the immigrants who are illegal? Because there is no real effort. In California, when we had a hot spell, our Governor gave $50 million dollars to the illegals workers who could not work in the fields due to the weather ruining the crops. Later in the month, there was a big sweep to find and deport illegal aliens. There is always news in our papers saying they can't find the immigrants. I know where they are...in Wasco, where the Governor sent the $50 million to help them. Why not send them back. We have drives and causes constantly to get food and houses for them...and they are felons.
It makes no sense, because just like we hate tobacco and what it does to people, and yet the government won't eliminate it as a drug, we are doing the same with this problem. The government likes the money from tobacco taxes; the government is afraid of losing votes if they come down too hard on illegal immigrants. Schools are required to spend money on teaching others to speak Spanish. Who is teaching the other immigrants, such as the Chinese, the Japenese and other lawabiding citizens. THEY take the responsiblity to learn so that they can be in their host country.
I volunteer at a local hospital and at least 4 times an hour I am scolded by a Mexican for not speaking Spanish to them, and this is MY country. I love immigrants; what a blessing to meet people from other countries and to learn their culture and traditions. I am against ANYTHING illegal.
In Holland, if an employer hires an illegal immigrant, the employer is fined up to $15 thousand dollars (in Euros) and put in jail. NOBODY hires an illegal; in America we are so afraid to set such boundaries and consequences.
And all of us in America will suffer, regardless of who we are or what race we are. Crime does not pay, unless you are from Mexico.

Laws that are not enforced are of no value.
Immigration in this nation is a joke. Both legal and illegal is the highest it has ever been in the nation's history. Assimilation is overrun with open borders and the government not acting to rectify the problems created---Without some movement the states will have to use their police powers and soverign constitutional rights to protect and keep law and order alive.

The laws and restrictions are perfectly fine. The problem is that our government does not enforce them. My wife is Philippina and she went through the proper channels, did her paper work, and we got married when she arrived here. It has taken almost 8months to file the paper work and for her to arrive. After we were married it took about 4months to get an interview with NCSIS, and she recieved her conditional permanent resident card within a month after that. Now in 18 month she will file to get permanent unconditional residence.
That is why I have soooo much trouble with others who complain about having to wait to become citizens. They simply don't want to pay taxes and be in our database if you ask me. The illegals get housing very easy, they recieve health care, drivers licenses, and can work without paying taxes. Most don't even try to speak english, but our government spends all kinds of money to make sure they understand how to get benefits, work illegaly, and can order food or anything else in spanish.
In short, it is sickening!! I hate Democrats and Republicans alike when it comes to this issue, and I am not gonna write this over again in spanish at the end of the page!!

Simple, have the federal government announce that they will be issuing hunting licenses in 60 days. In less than 60 days all illegal aliens will leave. Job done.

Outstanding list to get started with. There are a few more that should be put on that list, but that is a start.
Are you planning to run a President soon, you have my vote?

your twelve step program sounds like you're talking America.
sounds great!
but i suggest enforcement of existing laws first.
if the AGREEMENTS, THAT ALREADY EXIST, with nations that have populations clamoring to get to America are not good enough, try to fix them. unfettered immigration-absolutely not!
do people understand that there are AGREEMENTS as to how many are allowed, from where, for what reasons, blah, blah, blah?
