Jeremiah 46:28
Enemies of the Jews will cease to be nations

Zechariah 12:1-5
Jerusalem would become an international problem
^^^^^^^^^^
(Zechariah 12
1
This is the word of the LORD concerning Israel. The LORD, who stretches out the heavens, who lays the foundation of the earth, and who forms the spirit of man within him, declares:
2
"I am going to make Jerusalem a cup that sends all the surrounding peoples reeling. Judah will be besieged as well as Jerusalem.
3
On that day, when all the nations of the earth are gathered against her, I will make Jerusalem an immovable rock for all the nations. All who try to move it will injure themselves.
4
On that day I will strike every horse with panic and its rider with madness," declares the LORD. "I will keep a watchful eye over the house of Judah, but I will blind all the horses of the nations.
5
Then the leaders of Judah will say in their hearts, `The people of Jerusalem are strong, because the LORD Almighty is their God.')

These verses are primarily for the Jewish people of two different eras. Jeremiah's prophecy has been fulfilled: there is no nation of Moabites, Edomites, Ammonites, and so on. The only nation still in existence is Egypt, and that country is not anywhere near what it was in Jeremiah's day.

As for Zechariah's prophecy, remember that he is speaking of a day yet in the future. It doesn't primarily apply to Christians or the Church, but to Israel itself. Many other prophecies have not yet been fulfilled but some day they will be. What God has promised, God will make come true.

Merry Christmas to you and yours!

Jer 46:28 says a bit more than you are quoting - it finishes with "for i willl not leave you wholly unpunished".
You need to look at everything together
Zec 12 - see verse 10.
" And i will pour on the house of David and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem the Spirit of grace and supplication: then they will look on me whom they pierced....
also see John 19:34,37 and 20:27
Rev 1:7
and Jer 6:26
Referring to Jesus.
Not an expert, but
It sounds to me that God is looking out for the House of David, but he will look out for Judah over them.

The nearest I can get is that it corresponds to the prophesy about when every kindred, tongue and nation wars against Israel and Jerusalem and God rains 80 -120 lb hailstones on the enemy . So it is God that wins the war, only so that He can show that there is a God and that it is He.
