On the surface, the question looks like a version of "What is the color of red?", but scratch the surface and there is "Meaning = Value / Worth / Function / Significance"(sp?). It is the Answer to "Why...?"
On the surface, a birthday card may seem like a nice gesture, but to the recipient (hopefully), it may be confirmation of a longtime affection, respect or dependence.
The onlooker may not see much there, but the recipient does.
