It has nothing to do with being 'primitive' some beers are best tasted at room temp, not all are American p!sswater.

I always find this rather amusing, I'm at an English pub and an American pulls up to the bar and says, no, demands " an American style ice cold beer". The barkeep quickly pulls a pint glass, reaches under the counter and pours, pulls up the frosty brew and hands him the glass. The American tastes the beer and remarks " just like home!", pays the tab and joins his friends.
Now I'm sitting here for the better part of several hours, enjoying my room temp lager with some mates and observing this chap and his friends going back and forth ordering American style beer with that same style of swagger. Admittedly, curiosity got the best of me and I pulled over the barkeep and enquired as to what and how he was serving the "Yanks"? He showed me a can of Bud Lite he pulled from the bowels of the ice maker. He mentioned that he got a great deal from the distributor (not much of a market in the UK) and whenever he spots a Yank he puts them on ice. Great for business!

I'm afraid it's more a matter of some guests being so primitive as not to realize that some fine beers are traditionally served at room temperature.
;-)
But seriously now, no, the pubs in England serve a wide range of beers at their appropriate temperatures (or thereabouts), and are actually really well equipped in order to be able to do so.
A Newcastle Brown needs to be served much colder than a Bitter, and that's what they'll be able to foster to (no pun intended).

I like my beer cold be it good or bad it is just a preference but yes it is common that alot of english people enjoy there beer warm. I have met a few english guys in my life and both liked warm beer for me gross. Although that being said Guiness is quite good at room temperature since it takes so long to drink one they will warm up over time.

Beers outside the US are generally served at cellar temperature (about 55 degrees). This allows you to actually TASTE the beer. In the US, the megabrews are served ice cold because they taste terrible once they warm up.

I agree. Good beer tastes better at a slightly warmer temperature. It's only crappy beer that needs to be ice cold.

No, the exact opposite is true... most Americans are so primitive, they think something made with rice and served just above freezing is beer.
