15 is always a good time to start playing. You should know in advance why you want to learn though. Is it really what you want to do, or is it just something that seems popular? If you want to start playing just because everyone else does you'll never get anywhere with it. You may as well not waste your time and money.
On the other hand, if you really want to go somewhere with it you should practice a lot, and don't go cheap when buying your equipment. A bad set of equipment can take all the fun out of learning to play an instrument.
When buying equipment, check out a few bands that you like. What equipment do they use? Do they tend to use Marshall amps? Do they use heavy or light guitars? These all affect your sound, making it easier or harder to learn.
Lastly, make sure you use good strings. Old strings make for dull tone, making playing guitar BORING. Fresh new strings make it easier to hear the note, which helps for learning to tell sounds apart. They tend to last about a month. (Most rock guitarists use Ernie Ball)

Well I just started learning how to play piano. What helps is, and you can probably do this with the gutiar too, is learning songs on the guitar but not necessarily notes. When you learn a few songs by pattern and memorazation of where your fingers go, then it's a lot easier to learn notes because you have a little understanding. You don't need to devote ALL your free time to it, but when your bored, pick it up.
I started playing the piano, like I said before, and I learned songs off of youtube. It may sound dumb, but now that I learned a few songs, I'm teaching myself how to read music now because I have a little understanding of the music and keys. But for you it would be the strings and pitches.

no one is every too old to learn something new. I'm sure you could learn by yourself, if you have the stamina and determintation. You can buy a self learning book, or a beginners book from a music store and sit down with a guitar and pic and learn how to play. You can also go to the nearest music store, get a list of guitar teachers-yes, they have those, and call up to see if they would be interested in teaching you once a week, or every other week.
The funnest way that I have learned to WANT to learn, (haha sounds funny) is to find a song that has very easy chords: A, E, Em, G, C. Many sonsgs have those chords. If you learn just those chords, and go to UltimateGuitar.com, you can find just about any song! You will have fun playing that song. I do. :)
I hope you learn to play the guitar-it takes determination and a lot of want, but anyone can do it. :D i luv it. :)

I'm 25 and just started playing a month ago. It's hard to find time right now in my life but I can usually squeeze in 30 min of practice time a day. I'm learning the basics for about 6 months and then I'd like to switch to blues guitar lessons by fall. I really wish I would have picked it up at a younger age, but hey, that's life. I'm just going to focus on improving slowly and see where it goes. Make sure you can make the time and go for it.

You're never too old to learn to play.
I'm about to be 17 and I'm just now learning how to play the piano.
My dad learned at like 40 something.

No you're not too old at all. I'm 24 and I plan on learning how to play my guitar. It really depends on how much you have going on but I'm sure you can find some time for it if it's something you're passionate about.

RE:
Am I too old to learn to play the guitar?
Well, I know I'm probably not "too old" to learn, but I would like to know from people (I am 15 and in high school), if I'd have enough time to devote to learning to play a guitar. I mean, with school and everything else. Thanks in advance.
Encouragement always helps :D

you are never too old to learn, and the nice thing about learning to play music is that you can devote spare time to it and have something to do instead of being bored. Don't expect to be fantastic right away, it takes time, but is a lot of fun and is a lifelong hobby or pleasure, there is always something more to learn, so it doesn't get old.

If you really want to learn, you'll be able to make time. I just started learning to play in October, and I am a college student busy with classes and 10 hours of choir rehearsals a week, but I still find the time to practice.
