I had scheduled for a trip to the Bahamas with some friends about two months ago. It is a 4-day trip and we will be leaving next week. However, I just got a job offer with a great company whose initial training will overlap with my trip. The HR department said I couldn't miss even one day of training even though I explained my situation. Also, they have no plans for training sessions in the near future. I must make a decision to either go on the trip or take the job. I like my friends a lot and REALLY want to go on the trip, but this job offer is a great opportunity. What should I do???

You would have to be totally crazy if you go to the Bahama's. Good jobs are hard to find. You can plan another trip with the money you make on your new job.

its better to have a long term plan (the new job) than a short term plan (vacation). I think having a job you love for a long time is better than having 4 days of fun which will end quickly. You will be happy with a long term of happiness at work than a few moments of splendid bliss in the bahamas. plus the bahamas will always be there so you can go nxt year or some other time.

Take the job. Good jobs are hard to find, but you can take a trip anytime. Do you get vacation time with this job? Go on your vacation time.

The trip will be a few days of fun - but is a few days of fun worth being jobless or taking a crappier job in the future?

Best of luck with whatever you do!

Take the job, do the training and plan another vacation with your friends for a later date. Think of yourself first on this one.

If the job is McDonalds, then take the trip. If it is something that meets your long-term goals, then take the job. If your friends don't understand, then so be it.
Hopefully you can get your money back or have someone else take your place.

Good luck with the new job!
