I did some reading on this and I realize that it ages it really quickly. But is that really such a bad thing? Doesn't that just cut the amount of time I have to wait? Also, I don't drink a lot of wine, so will I even be able to tell the difference? The reason I ask is because I have a wine rack in my kitchen that isn't temp controlled and the necks of the bottles are exposed to the light. For a casual wine drinker is it ok for them to sit for a year or so in my makeshift wine rack.

It's not really 'bad' per-say, but they would be better off in a cooler, darker place. Maybe if you have a pantry or an empty cupboard. They certainly will not last as long as they would with proper storage (on their sides in a cellar), but they won't exact spoil quickly from your setup...

If you keep it for a short period of time, it wouldn't be a problem. A cabinet or a closet might be better, but less convenient. If you drink it less than a month after purchase you should be fine...probably could go longer, but it would be up to experience to see how long. Plus, can you really keep a bottle for a whole month?

It is bad, becuase the wine will turn bad quick as the heat gets to it, store it in a cool and dry place, you can tell the difference in wine when its bad, it taste like vinegar and the cork of the wine bottle would be really moist, the cork has to stay half dry, and heat gets to it, it turns the cork more moist and thats how the wine goes bad.

It's not really bad. Just store your wine in a cabinet.

The hotter the temperature you may end up with vinegar.
