so theres nothing i can do to play ps2 games on it?

You can't. Sony had removed necessary hardware.

you cant ....if you have a ps3 of 40 gb i wont work because it dont have enough capacity in the memory...but if you have a 60 gb, you can. the 60gb ps3 have a lot of caoacity and also it brings an internat memory ps2/ps. with you can play ps2 game and save them as well. you will not need no memory card.

nope sorry u cant i am still thinking about getting a ps3 40 gb cuz i am giving all my ps2 games to my friend

you cant play the ps2 games on your ps3, because the 40 Gig doesn't have a backwards compatibility hard drive on the system...so unless you want to upgrade to 60 Gig somehow...you can't play ps2 or ps1 games on your ps3, sorry

you can't man, because sony took off the ps2 backward compatible for the 40gb and the 80gb took off the emotion engine to have software emulation. it either sell it on ebay to buy a 20gb or 60gb ps3 or get a ps2.

gonna have to agree with Jon G on this one. you shoulda did ur homework before runnin out to buy it....might of been better to just get a 360
