It's called a thermal imager. Your local fire department almost certainly has such a device that they use to locate fire victims or hot spots in low visibility situations. If you go to your local fire department, you may even be able to get them to demonstrate it for you. It's just an infrared camera. Night vision goggles work on the same principle. Hot objects like people show up as bright spots against a dark (cooler) background.
In the military, we call these cameras FLIRs (Forward Looking InfraRed). The Border Patrol uses them to detect people crossing the border.
If you want to have some fun, Big 5 Sporting Goods has hand-held night vision scopes for sale to the public.

Its been around for over 40 years. nothing new. All police helicopters have them FLIR. Most fire depts have them. It simply measures heat in front of it. The human body, at 98.6 is usually the warmest thing around, so it lights up.

Heat resonance? Maybe! I can't rememer.....but they do exist. They have ones utilizing sound waves too. It bounces around like when they map oceans floors. I saw something like this on "futureweapons" a show on Discovery I believe.

Cool stuff! I want one of those for Xmas!

Happy Holidays!

Yes there is such technology. Thermal Imaging. And its warrantless use to see inside houses is unconstitutional (see Kyllo v. US)
