My 2 year old cocker and 9 week old shih-tzu mix are play fighting in the floor. The cocker is a considerable amount bigger than the puppy, but as they "fight" they pounce at each other, then turn and almost bump butts then jump at each other again. The cocker is careful not to hurt the pup- it's all completely harmless, but I'm wondering about the butt bumping. Is this normal? Or are mine especially friendly?

Both males- cocker is neutered and has been since he was 6 months old. The baby isn't old enough yet.

I've got a border collie/alsatian mix,who plays with a dachshund. The dachs is a far more dominating dog(Both spayed bitches),never seen them 'butt bumping' though. As long as neither dog gets hurt, whats the problem.
Recently took them to the vets,my dog had a booster injection, anal glands squeezed and cleaned, and a small tube of cream for eczema, and it cost £44.How much would that cost you in the U.S?

Photomarr: Just curious, because health treatment for humans in the U.S,is very expensive, and I wondered if it was the same for animals.

sure its solid for them. all of us calls it some thing diverse even if it is the comparable element. I even have 5 dogs and that they play or conflict as we call it all the time with one yet another and dogs of their Agility and dock divin training. Its solid exercising and it teaches them solid social skills. even in the event that they do no longer look to be allowed to play with unusual dogs that they do no longer understand. we ought to fulfill a dogs some cases and if attainable see the different dogs work together with different dogs first. I paintings at an emergency animal wellbeing facility and you do no longer understand how many dogs are available in with wounds with the aid of fact the dogs they have been fidgeting with attacked them. I additionally very own all pit bulls and in the event that they have been taking part in and a combat broke out it would be my dogs fault no rely what with the aid of fact they're pits.even nevertheless they're all the main important bunch of babies. So I verify i do no longer positioned them in any form of venture that they'd get in hardship. appears like your dogs has a solid play chum and that i might proceed to enable them to play.

My dog play fights with a smaller dog when we take care of it for my cousin. I saw a couple dogs play fighting at the pound, too. My wife says that when dogs play fight, they go for each others mouths. When they fight for real, they go lower, and try to get at the other dog's throat. The butt bumping is normal too. My dog does it a lot with her dog friends at the park.

Yes, it's normal, they are fine. I have 2 girls dogs, and when they play, the miniature dachsund is much more "vocal" than the lab. But her "growling" is totally different when playing than when someone's at the door.

As they get older, they'll establich a pecking order. That is normal for pack animals like dogs, too. Just let them get on with it, though you may hear some snapping and barking or growling as it goes along. They'll still wind up friends.

I agree it's normal behavior. The bumping in the rear is because they are both male dogs and the oldest one is trying to tell the little one he's the boss.

That's different.

I can tell you that wiener dogs play pretty hard whether they're evenly matched or not.
