Immigration policy seems so simple, build a wall to stem to tide of illegal immigration, closely monitor the points where there is closely interwined economic ties between the 2 countries, beef up the processing legal immigration. The "amnesty" program proposed isn't going to happen until there is a wall. Finally, put into place criminal penalties and fines for those with a pervasive pattern of hiring illegal immigrants to gain more profits.

Not quite the hard line conservative proposals, but a big improvement for those finding wages depressed and cut off from jobs done by illegals.

But it's going to take a terrorist attack where illegal border crossing was done to get these things done.
