The UK is getting a bit crowded and we have no idea how many people are here illegally or legally. Put the breaks on! France has fewer people but the immigrants cross France to come here. Puzzled by that.
I have no objection in principal so long as they work and there are jobs enough for everyone. But I do think pay is poorer in some occupations because it's an employers market right now cos of so many people and few jobs to fill. They can pay what they want. If there were less poeple pay might be better?
Now I want to add some stuff. There is a lot of comment here about immigrants wanting college etc or getting free medical care. I want to point out that there are a lot of americans (and british in the uk) whose parents didn't work, also wanting, wanting. Also lots of immigrants who have good social conscience and contribute a lot in terms of brain and money. There is good and bad in all nationalities. However I do think that those who have no family roots in a country are more likely to turn to crime. A long family line of proud standing is the best thing for keeping people toeing the line of morality and common sense. It's still true that kids don't like to let their Grandparents down.

Double wow, but I have so many views about this. I'm from NY and the whole illegal immigration issue is sort of serious. But if your her legally I have no problem. If your here illegally, my only problem is get your papers! become legal. But I'm not knowledgeable of all the procedures about getting the papers. How much does it cost? what do you need? things like that. All I see is the taxes coming out of my paycheck for city, and state. and that equals to Social Services, Medicaid, food stamps, and unfortunately the illegal immigrants are the ones I see on the line. (along with others but you know what I mean) Remember I don't know this struggle, I'm American. But here are a few ideas. 1. Illegal immigrant who have children, that attended HS and now want to go to college, their parents never paid taxes but want to send their kid to college...is it fair that the kid should get government funding like TAP/PELL? I don't think they should. 2. If your a illegal immigrant and already have a job here, you would 2 choices. Either allow you to continue work and apply for legalization or Give a temporary work permit for 2 years, when it expires you can't apply for legalization, you'll go back to your country with a 8 month work VISA, but you never become legal.

Illegal immigration is a way to invite a lot of criminals wanting to get out of their own country, and find easier pickings. I would point out our jails are far, far nice than most, so if you are going to do crime.. and worry about being caught.. this country is the place to go.

I think that it's nice to help those and need and stuff but America is only so big and they're taking our jobs and getting free health care while we have to pay a million bucks to go to the doc! Just think in a few decades if they keep coming at this rate! Immigrants will be the majority and we'll have to immigrate ourselves so we don't get suffocated!

illegal immigrant is bad all that do nothing to improve their education and want to succeed should be thrown back to their country that means all the gangsters that screw up our communities all the stupid couples that have kids at such a young age that later cant support each other those ignorant people should not be allowed. why should our tax money have to be used for welfare and food stamps and feeding prisoners look it makes no sense. However if an immigrant has dreams and works really hard to achieve it then why not give that person a chance people like that should be accepted there not going to ruin our economy they are going to increase it. lets be honest anyone that wants to succeed should be more than welcome we all have that opportunity and not many take it.

Criminal Border Crossers and Stayers, they are criminals and should be treated as criminals.
Legal Immigrants should be upset when they are lumped together with the criminals.
