It was Valentine's Day 1963! During pratice for the 1963 Daytona 500 a car crashed in the third turn. It had hit the retaining wall, flipped onto it's top and slide down the track to the apron, where it erupted into flames. The driver was trapped. Tiny Lund and several mechanics where returning from lunch and saw the crash. They stopped their car, jumped over the fence and went to the drivers aid. They tipped the car over just enough to open the door and pull the driver from the wreckage. He was badly burnt, but at the hospital he ask his owner to let Tiny Lund drive for him, since he felt Tiny had saved his life. The owner agreed and Tiny not only raced the injured driver's car, but won the 63 Daytona 500!
Who was the driver that was burnt so badly? And who was his car owner at the time?

Bill, Yes he got T-boned in the drivers side at Talladega, but it was August 1975! Also a good and bad day for Buddy Baker, as he won the race, but lost his best friend!
