Is it possible to modify one to an automatic?

Why would you want to do that? An automatic takes control away from the driver, lessens the driving sensation, and robs power from the wheels. Besides, nothing is more rewarding than a perfect heal/toe shift...

Nope sorry. It's not possible nor if the company wanted to do so. The Dodge viper is ment to be a race car, not a family car. However you can buy one as a family car. But it will not have a automatic transmission. The viper was made for racing and only racing. Now there may be a chance in the future to that the company will decide to make it a automatic transmission car. But I highly doubt that.

Not from the factory--the only main gearbox with which any Viper shipped is the Borg Warner (Tremec from 2004) T56. Although the TorqueFlite 518 (Calibration 48RE) could potentially be used (as was the case with the 1999-2001 BE-1500 with SRT-10 Performance Package), the PCM would have to be reprogrammed and a custom harness built for the TorqueFlited Viper, as additional hardware connections are needed to support the '518. Don't know if the just-now-shipping New Process 68RFE automatic will be on the options list for 2008.

Why would you want to do that. The point of the viper is to be a track performance car, and you don't get that with an automatic transmission. I myself hate automatics. I only buy vehicles that are with a manual transmission.

Why on earth would you want to do that? Unless it was so a disabled person could drive it, making an automatic Viper would ruin the whole point of the car. Its like thinking of making a Ferrari an automatic. Totally misses the point of interacting with and actually "driving" the car, vs. just sitting in the thing, stepping on the gas and turning the steering wheel once in a while.
