It is impossible for anyone to explain because it makes no sense.
It is a pagan teaching with no Scriptural backing whatsoever. No one, just by reading the Bible on their own and without being taught about it beforehand, would come to the conclusion that God is a trinity on their own.
Worst of all, it blinds people to deeper truths in the Bible and dishonors God.
EDIT: Look at the answer below mine.
Where in that verse provided is the trinity? Where is the "TRI" (three) there?
The next answer would give you an "F" in a Math exam. Not only that, you could even get expelled.
I can assure the third one after me that she will spend the rest of her life trying to wrap her poor head around it.
The fourth one- your Mom is still ONE PERSON, not THREE. She is not herself AND her own daughter or her own grandmother at the same time.
pbb1001- Kindly show us "HERETICS" from the BIBLE that Jesus is God.
beekay- did you read through those points yourself? Especially are points 21,22,23 and 25 contradictory. First the Son is of the Father (the Father is of none) , but then again none of them greater than the others? What of the Father whom the son is OF????? Oh dear.

It seems to me, more people have a hard time with the concept of the trinity than not. I think God must be just shaking his head over all of us trying to figure out a concept a man came up with that's not even in scripture. One way of describing the trinity can be this... God is viewed as one entity with 3 forms (father, son and spirit) ....God is the root of the vine, Christ is the vine, the Holy Spirit is the sap that flows from the root , thru the vine and to the branches. Christ's followers are the branches. I hope this helps. It's the best way I can conceptualize it. I know some people say Jesus and God are one and the same. I have a hard time with that because there is so much scripture that indicates otherwise. While I believe Jesus was fully divine and fully human. I believe God is so much more than Christ. Christ is part of God, the Holy Spirit is part of God, but God is far more than Christ and the Holy Spirit. I believe he is beyond our understanding in our current state.

This is a touch long but it is a good explanation of what we believe of the Trinity.
And the catholic faith is this: That we worship one God in Trinity, and Trinity in Unity;
4. Neither confounding the persons nor dividing the substance.
5. For there is one person of the Father, another of the Son, and another of the Holy Spirit.
6. But the Godhead of the Father, of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit is all one, the glory equal, the majesty coeternal.
7. Such as the Father is, such is the Son, and such is the Holy Spirit.
8. The Father uncreated, the Son uncreated, and the Holy Spirit uncreated.
9. The Father incomprehensible, the Son incomprehensible, and the Holy Spirit incomprehensible.
10. The Father eternal, the Son eternal, and the Holy Spirit eternal.
11. And yet they are not three eternals but one eternal.
12. As also there are not three uncreated nor three incomprehensible, but one uncreated and one incomprehensible.
13. So likewise the Father is almighty, the Son almighty, and the Holy Spirit almighty.
14. And yet they are not three almighties, but one almighty.
15. So the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Spirit is God;
16. And yet they are not three Gods, but one God.
17. So likewise the Father is Lord, the Son Lord, and the Holy Spirit Lord;
18. And yet they are not three Lords but one Lord.
19. For like as we are compelled by the Christian verity to acknowledge every Person by himself to be God and Lord;
20. So are we forbidden by the catholic religion to say; There are three Gods or three Lords.
21. The Father is made of none, neither created nor begotten.
22. The Son is of the Father alone; not made nor created, but begotten.
23. The Holy Spirit is of the Father and of the Son; neither made, nor created, nor begotten, but proceeding.
24. So there is one Father, not three Fathers; one Son, not three Sons; one Holy Spirit, not three Holy Spirits.
25. And in this Trinity none is afore or after another; none is greater or less than another.
26. But the whole three persons are coeternal, and coequal.
27. So that in all things, as aforesaid, the Unity in Trinity and the Trinity in Unity is to be worshipped.
28. He therefore that will be saved must thus think of the Trinity.
PS when it speaks of Catholic faith it means universal, not Roman Catholic

The trinity was a recent enough creation of the church when they took a too literal interpretation of the buybull.
People used to take it as being allegorical. The early church started teaching literalism which lead to the current thoughts that the world is only 6000 years old.
But if you want a literal interpretation of the trinity. Gawd is himself, Jeebus and the holey spirit at the same time. Jeebus is not only equal to gawd but he actually is gawd made flesh. The holey spirit I'm guessing is Jeebus after he resurrected or something like that.
So literal interpretation means: Gawd == Jeebus == holey spirit.

The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. God exists through three entities- the traditional idea of God, the Son- Christ, and the Holy Spirit which is the connection one has to God and the love and communication that it facilitates. Its a confusing concept that I'm still trying to wrap my head around. xoxo

It's unexplainable because nothing in this earth is 3 different substances yet only One. there's similarities, think of conjoined triplets. Three different persons but conjoined to one...lets say brain.
yet this is still not right because the Most Holy Trinity, is not conjoined to each other.
It's just impossible for anyone to explain.
Jesus is totally God:
John 20:24-28 Thomas calls Christ His Lord and His God and Christ does not rebuke Him.
In John 8:58 Jesus says, "before Abraham was, I Am. And people wanted to kill him for refferring himself as God's name: I AM.
Revelation 1:8 Jesus Calls Himself Alpha and Omega, again a passage that quotes the name of God and applies it to Himself.
Don't ever let anyone teach you any different!

http://www.catholic.com/library/God_in_Three_Persons.asp
the end says god_in_three_persons.asp, gets cut!
and
http://www.catholic.com/library/Trinity.asp
this last one says trinity.asp, gets cut!
are a good introduction to the Catholic understanding of the Trinity. All TRUE Christians believe in the Trinity, Catholic and non-Catholic alike.
Those who call themselves 'christian', yet deny it, are HERETICS. Please do not listen to those. As if it's not bad enough that they are misled, they are misleading others too.
Peace out.
