Atheist here...

I doubt it will be the cemetery because isn't that more of a religious thing, than that of an Atheist one?

There's probably a really simple answer to this and I'm just not thinking right...

Cemetery burial isn't strictly a religious concept. I don't care what happens to my body when I die. I would rather not be buried, as I don't want to take up space, but really, the funeral is for the family, anyway. Whatever will help them to deal with my death is fine by me, even if they have to have hymns played at the service.

Honestly? I don't know.

And I'm not sure I care, either -- right now, I'm focusing on staying alive, as I promised I would.

But that's an interesting thought -- I wonder if the Satanic Church has a cemetary; aside that, I can't think of anywhere "I" would be able to "go" after I die.. A normal cemetary, NEVER. Backyard? Ehm. I might have kids. So no. LOL. Cremation? Not that the thought of searing my flesh until it turns to ash isn't appealing and all, but.. ehm, okay, maybe it's NOT appealing.

Hrm.

I hope I don't die in this chair..

since when was a cemetary a religion thing? Just because most churches have their own cemetery doesn't mean that cemetaries with no church affiliation do not exist, geez. the christian mind only thinks within the confines of the christian faith. most people have to get permits and junk to be buried on private property in most areas, and cremation is also an option for many or most "athiests". my final answer, who really cares what happens to thier body? Any of these options would be fine with me, it will still be just as dead wether i am buried in a cemetary or cremated....or thrown to sea, or tied to a tree to rot.....its all a matter of personal preference.

There is no other place to put a body but in a cemetery, at least not legally.

I personally don't care what happens to my body but my family is still christian so I will probably get a christian burial.

I think most people will agree with me when I say that the a burial is not for the dead but to let the living grieve.

I'm not an Atheist, but I hope you don't mind...

I want to be cremated. Saves up a lot of space. Maybe then have my ashes spread in a forest somewhere. I would however like a headstone in a particular cemetery where many of my family is buried/planning to be buried.

I lack a belief in an afterlife. So by your imagined metaphysical cosmology, I wouldn't have an afterlife. No dark void, I just would cease to be. Many people's metaphysical cosmologies are mutually exclusive. It's not Heaven unless they get to laugh at people they hate in Hell. Yes, I can still "knock" people for believing in an imaginary place. Just because you've invented another imaginary place doesn't change the fact that, and this is important, so pay attention, they're all imaginary.

From what I've heard, cremation is the most environmentally friendly. I'll probably do some research on it before I decide though. I haven't really thought about it much; I'm only 25.

I'm also going to let medicine have all the organs I haven't sold on the black market.

I always said I wanted to be cremated, but now due to so many people choosing it, they are saying its adding to the greenhouse gases!

I think, a burial at sea since I live on a boat. After all my useful bits have been removed of course.

I'm going to be cremated and the ashes spread in the North Atlantic off the coast of Bar Harbor, Maine since that is one of my two favorite places to find inner-peace.

My parents have a large plot and there is room for me and my spouse, but I promised my husband that if he died first I would bring his ashes to back to England.

Well right now it is going wherever my extended family decides. I'm young I've made no plans. But if I ever get around to making them, a hole in the ground seems pointless. Maybe cremation, maybe to science, who knows.
