Ok recently I've turned life around. Im in college and I was clubbin, drinking and doing things I shouldn't have been doing. Now I've put a lot of that behind me. The thing is that was pretty much my weekends, doing dumb -ish like clubbin all the time, and most of my friends, as much as it hurts to say, I feel I've outgrown some of them. Now I read the bible, play ball, go to school, and just handg out with friends around the campus. Now what I want to know is what do the people who have given their life to God do with a lot of their time. Honestly I don't see a lot of people around who share the passion I have for God, and I aint exactly trying to surround myself with no bums. So myquestion is... what do you all do cuz I'd like to meet some people share that passion?

Wow so many replies! I really appreciate every single response because they all had me thinking a lot. I guess I can check out the campus and see if there is a group here that I can be apart of. Again everyone thank you.

You had better seek out those who think like you do. if you don't then you will think like these people you hang with.
The Bible tells us-'do not be deceived, bad company corrupts good character'.

Fellowship and church attendance is essential part of the Christian life and has been the pattern since the very first Christians.

It is one of the most wrong-headed things to tell a Christian not go to Church. It is easy to criticize churches. But why should that be a surprise? The entire operation is run by sinners. Churches are where you go to be made whole.

(Heb 10:24-25, ESV)
24 And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, 25 not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another, and all the more as you see the Day drawing near.

There are at least two good college fellowship ministries you should check out: Campus Crusade for Christ and Navigators. My oldest son is in Campus Crusade. You should be able to find other passionate believers there. Plus, they can help with college issues.

Bible.org is a massive resource with 4000+ pages. And they are not kooky.

The single most important thing to do for any Christian is to cooperate with God and allow your character to be transformed into Christ’s image.
Galatians 4:19 my little children, for whom I am again in the anguish of childbirth until Christ is formed in you!

You do this by reading the bible and studying this process called Spiritual Formation
(Ro 12:2, ESV)
Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.

Study the principles of spiritual formation at: http://www.bible.org/index.php?scid=6 Also, www.kenboa.org

Spiritual formation is the most important thing you can do, because it lays the foundation for everything else. It is about entering the kingdom of God – now! The life you see described in the Sermon on the Mount is available to you.

God Bless
Scott

hello New Friend,

You must find a place where there are active people. Christians can have fun to, we just do it differently. Check out Churches such as the Church of God, First assembly etc. They are Churches with a good vibrant Spirit.
Also we have a ministry that offers an online outreach at www.angelsharbor.org . There are online fellowship groups and physical activities as well thru outreaches such as FEMA, and a mentor program. Very good to meet you, and if you need. I am here.

It depends on your age. Church yea is a building but the people inside maybe the kinds of friends that you need to be hanging with. Check out different churches and perhaps different faiths. Never be sold by a churches cover. Just because people attend a church doesn't mean they are saved, and beware because some church goes are flat jerks. Over all hopfully you will find inside a church people who don't live the kind of life that you use to and your relationship with God will grow.
Hope this helps.

Sometimes I hand out tracts. Otherwise, I play sports, email, internet, help out at churches, soup kitchens, etc. I also work and go to college. If you're in college, it probably has a Christian club there that you can join. Definitely pray for God to send you some good people. Also, evangelize. You can win a few of the worldly folk and they often make the best friends, because they'll have some of that passion and you can disciple them. We go to church a lot too. Your best bet is to find a church with young people and make friends there.

This is where Ministry comes in.

In my congregation, we use this passion to help one another, and to help others.

You could step out and teach bible classes to children and adults.
You can use your skills and talents to spread the word. You do not have to become an evangelist, but you can set up tables for a church event, and clean up after.
You can set up communion on Sunday mornings, or you could drive the church bus to pick up elderly people for worship.
You could join the choir.
You could bring food to a homeless shelter.
You could make handouts and props for bible classes.
You could design and implement a church website.
You could do the bookkeeping, or work in the office doing correspondence.
You could work in a food pantry.
You could fix things around the church, or paint the walls.
You could put on skits and plays to bring bible lessons to life.
You could help organize a fundraiser to build a church building for Christians in Africa. (They cost about $5,000)

Oh, you don't have to do this alone, either. I see you are in college. Cool, invite your friends to help you out. Perhaps if they see you serving, it might inspire them, too. You don't have to say a word.

I agree with John S in "The Bible tells us-'do not be deceived, bad company corrupts good character'."

Therefore I recommend you stay away from church. Yeah, that's what I said. The last thing you need is a brain-washing convention. Stick to what you love, have conviction in your faith, and just be who you are. Love all who come in your path, and trust me, the people who share your passion will come to you. They will be drawn to you because they will truly be able to see who you are. Those who would bring you down will drift from your life as long as you are yourself and don't allow them any power over you or your life. Best of luck to you!

Pray and ask God to bring you friends with like passion. I know that it is difficult to talk to Christians that do not have the excitement you do and will find you quite aggravating to be around. Just keep loving and praising Him and growing in His ways. God will bring you the people you need to encourage you.

Get involved with the fellowship at your local Church.
Do some volunteer work. I'm sure that they have special events going on at Church. They are pretty fun. You get to meet new people who share the same interests as you.
-God Bless.
