1.) Shower every day.
2.) Wear deodorant.
If that doesn't work:
3.) Stay away from spandex and polyester based clothing. I find it holds the smell more than cotton. And make sure clothing are clean.
4.) Wear perfume/body spray/or cologne.
5.) Fabric softener makes clothing smell GREAT.
If that still doesn't work, Zinc deficiencies can cause body oder. I had that problem when I was younger. I used to sweat a lot until I started taking Zinc supplements. Problem solved.
There are prescription strength deodorant too. It might not hurt. Of course this would require seeing a doctor. If the suggestions above don't help, it would be best she sees a doctor.

She probably needs some deodorant. That would help a lot. You could also buy her some nice smelling body wash. You can find all sorts of scents at Bath & Body Works. I'd also find out if she's washing her clothes enough. Some parents are really anal about using the electricity/water too much. My parents were like that. I had to sneak to wash my clothes (I wish I were kidding!)
You could also buy her some after shower powder. It smells so good and makes you feel really good too.

body odor is something that is quite embarrassing, both for the person emitting it, and for the people exposed to it...
you're being a good friend, though, by trying to help your friend with this issue..
Just one question though: is her body odor related to something specific (e.g. her menstrual cycle)? Many women who have issues with body odor offer suffer from it primarily during their menstural cycles...
Regardless, one thing that your friend can do is to aim at keeping her hygiene well-maintained...This is esp. true with taking showers on a daily basis (perhaps she may need to bump it up to 2x/day) with mildly scented soaps, applying adequate amounts of deodorant, and using sanitary wipes (for instance, baby wipes). If she sweats constantly, then she might want to carry around a small hand towel with her (I have a friend who does this).
One thing you should not advise your friend to do is to wear tons of perfume...Body odor plus perfume to try to cover it is a recipe for disaster..
I wish her all the best :)

Some people have a medical condition that makes them produce a lot of sweat, even so there are special deodorants available from pharmacies and doctors. It is very hard to tell someone that they smell, good luck.

believe it I know from experience....
a few years ago I ran into some people from another country and was helping them with green card issues...well they do not eat meat, eggs or fish due to religious beliefs....so in order not to offend them I would not eat it either if going to their temple...soon I wondered what benefit if any is there for such a diet...so I went off meat, eggs, and fish for one month...
my food bill fell to the floor, I lost a bunch of weight, and the added bonus was that their was no longer any odor from anywhere in my body...not even bad breath in the morning...
this apparently was due to the fact that there was no longer any animal products putrifying in my digestive tract...this is real...so I stayed off those foods for six months straight...I lost 80 pounds: which turned out to be the toxins from the antibiotics, steriods and hormones i ate that those foods were full of...i could eat anything I wanted...no side effects...and then learned to read labels and know exactly what it is that I eat or stuff into my body...and that cellulite...well that is gone tooo....so tell your friend who is right by the way that if she really wants to be clean of toxins she should get off the animal products i mentioned.

I'M GOING TO TELL YOU NOT ALL BODY ODORS COME FROM NOT USING PROPER HYGIENE. MY MOM'S FRIEND WAS APPROACHED BY HER DAUGHTER-IN-LAW WHO TOLD HER SHE KNEW SHE BATHED DAILY, BUT STILL HAD AN OFFENSIVE ODOR AND NEEDED TO MAYBE GO SEE HER DOCTOR. THANK GOD SHE DIDN'T GET OFFENDED AND DID SEE HER DOCTOR. SHE HAD CERVICAL CANCER AND THAT IS WHAT WAS CAUSING THE ODOR. I'M NOT SAYING YOUR FRIEND HAS ANYTHING OF THE SORT, BUT MAYBE SHE SHOULD BE CHECKED OUT IF INDEED FOR SURE IT'S NOT A LACK OF HYGIENE.

Well besides bathing on a extremely regular basis there are clinically prescribed deodorants as well as medical treatments for those who sweat excessively.
