i was told at job interview 2 yrs ago that if i did a good job that would be a possible move up the ladder and i keep applying for jobs to move up and nothing happens. it is time to move on. i am willing to learn something new but that has gone for nothing

Apply online, call in sick for interviews.

80% of jobs attained are NOT through the Classified. They are either through friends and family or you go directly to the employer and show your interest. For instance, if you are a mechanic and looking for work. Go directly to a Ford dealership (or wherever) and express your interest. They will quiz you a bit, and if you perform well then you WILL get the job!

Do you have ANY days off....?
maybe you could explain that you are always at work to potential employers..so they see you are hardworking and deicated.
Or you could have an interview in your lunch our...finish early one day..perhaps?
Or..be honest, and say you are going for an interview, this may push you current employer to up your wages..or promote you..
