Don't limit yourself to listservs -- email lists that use the software program "listserv" to distribute their information. You should open your search to *all* online communities that might serve the Durham, NC area.

Craigslist serves this area (http://www.craigslist.com). You should check YahooGroups too, to see if they have communities focused on that area (http://www.yahoogroups.com).

into Google will probably find you even more resources.
