What about one with no religion?

Their policies matter to me, and their character, but not their personal lives. I care what they think about labor, the social safety net, minimum wage, outsourcing, tax breaks for the rich, stacking the courts so big business always gets the nod over the comman man... those sorts of every day things. Also, I'd like to know what they'll do to halt the slide of the US dollar against every other currency in the world, as well as what their plans for Iraq are. Their character matters, but not their religious denomination so much. As far as voting for an atheist or not, I think Bush and the rest are what I call functional atheists. They claim to believe, but you couldn't prove it by their actions with the FBI and every investigative agency on the planet on the case. Religion is a hollow word and a selling point for them, and not a way of life or a part of their background with any real meaning to them. Their actions are more satan-like, by their own purported value system, than Christ-like.

I even have been vote casting for some years and that's the 1st time I even have donated money to a candidate. I donated two times to the Obama marketing campaign, and that i'll probable donate returned.

Except for the Judicial system government should have no "moral compass" imo. They shouldn't be in the business of abortion or even talking about it. It should be up to the medical community if they want to do it or the individual doctor and patient. It shouldn't be up to government to do half the stuff they do for the "common good" because who has to decide the common good isn't always the most competent. It should be up to the communities. I do think we should take care of our sick, homeless, and poor though. And if someone wants to do drugs, heck if they aren't hurting me or anyone else (including obtaining drugs that have blood on them) then why should I care. So to me religion means nothing. Just don't push yours on me. I might be interested in hearing why or who you believe in but that shouldn't come from a president.

So yeah I know taking care of the sick, poor, and homeless is having a moral compass but the feds have the money for it right now I do think it should be a local problem not a federal.

I would donate to a candidate w/ whom I shared po;itical agenda. I would never consider religion or the lack there of. A person's religion shouldn't even be told publicly. There should be no mix between religion/politics.

I never donate money to a political candidate. I feel my money is best spent on children with cancer, people suffering from AIDS, and other humanitarian causes.
However, I would not decide whether to give my money to any cause based on their religious affiliation, or lack thereof. I give my money based on the cause and the organization's percentage of donated money that goes directly to the cause.

If I thought the candidate was honest and could do a good job. He or she would be my political leader, not my pastor. I do look at a person's religion as far as how it informs the way they would treat the poor, minorities, etc.

I have in the past. I will in the future.
There have been candidates with the same religion as me that I did not vote for.

I wouldn't donate money to any candidate, religion or no. I give to people that actually do something constructive with it.

I have to every election considering I am an atheist. I do not care about a person's religion when it comes to politics. As long as they realize they aren't there to just represent their own religion then I am cool.
