I tend to take a third person perspective when seeing atheists versus christians on here.
One thing I've noticed is the atheist are very strong in what they believe. Short of a god giving them a wedgy they are sticking to there guns.
On the other hand it seems like many christians on here get shook by anything. Their scared that the devil's using atheists against them. That we're in the holiday's not christmas. That they might catch the gay. That a movie is going to make them stop believing. Heck I had to make sure to include "many" when refering to chrisitans or else get 30 comments on genrelizing. It seems like around every corner christians are faltering.
At the same time many christians say atheists are arrogant to put up a front because they really do believe in god. When I have never seen a single atheist think anything was capable of changing there mind (oh except that deity wedgy). So what's going on here folks?

I think, for some reason, christians think in a more emotion way when confronted by athiests. I think its like if you and i are talking about kids, you have them, I don't, you will tend to get more involved in the topic.
I am a christian, I also am a debater so I can argue any side of an issue and I don't allow the rapid fire questions from athiests rattle me, I defend from a non emotional point of view. Most people can't, they feel attacked, they feel God is being attacked, etc and they get shaken.

As for the athiests not letting anything change them, its sort of like a non-faith faith? My faith cannot be changed, so perhaps their non-faith is the same? I don't think that made sense, but heck, i weighed in.

Mine's fine. But I can't speak for others.

EDIT: The more we put WHY the more it's challenged and ridiculed. But I'll put more details....

I am new to Christianity. So far, though, I haven't really felt shaken. I don't think that the Devil is using atheists against me. He's using other tools, which I'm aware of. I like Christmas, but it's not like I won't respond and get all wierd if someone says "Happy Holidays." I don't think I'll catch the "gay" as I have many homosexual friends who I love very much. The movie isn't about making me not believe, I just don't agree with it, so I personally won't be seeing it. It's not really a valid use of my time to try and convince anyone of something they don't want to be convinced of. I just come here to answer questios and share opinions and my own personal knowledge. That is all.

I'm not an atheist, but I'm not a christian. I believe that christians are dumbasses, though. They spend their time worshiping some god that is telling them they are insignificant worms compared to him, and they're all sinners and deserve to go to hell, but at the same time, he says he loves you. **** that! Just because some ***** named Eve ate some apple millions of years ago, we all have to suffer. If a real god told you not to eat something, I'm guessing you wouldn't! Besides, there's not enough power in the world for one being to make up the entire universe. I, -personally-, beleive that there are many different types of gods, no one more powerful than the others. And atheists are full of crap. The whole world didn't just pop up, it was made by powerful beings. So, there you have it!

Well for one thing, it would be hard to find an atheist on here who would say that they have just an average intelligence. There are so many atheists out there who are not college professors, geniuses, or smarter-than-thou, but you would not know that here. What about that blue collar atheist, who doesn't even know who Dawkins is? Or the atheists who does not have a high school diploma, let alone a college degree. These guys are never spoken of or represented. It's like they are ashamed of them or something, and that is just pure arrogance.

So you can say what you want about Christians, but all of them are represented here. You have the baby ones, and the mature ones. Hopefully those of us who are more knowledgeable can help our brothers and sisters in their growth, their walk. Also, the Christian faith must not be fragile; it's been here 2,000 years longer than a lot of folks said it would be.

Ok, you say you are a third person perspective yet you totally are not! You would like us to think that you are unbiased? Didn't sound that way to me! I am a Christian, there is nothing or no one that could shake my faith!! Just because I do not support a movie, does not mean I am afraid it will make me question my faith! Just because one person asked a question about her husband hanging out with his homosexual brother does not mean we all think we can catch the gays as you say! (and by the way, she was not even meaning that!) You say that you will be accused of generalizing and you are right! You are generalizing! You are lumping all Christians into one folder and saying we are like this and that and you don't even know what you are talking about! What's goin on here folks, is that a lot of people are putting names and tags on people because there are a few nuts in here, doesn't make us all nuts now does it??!!

Hmmm, interesting question. My faith is not fragile but I am no 'bible basher'. My Christian beliefs are mine and I preach to no-one. I have no fear of atheists ...I married one ;-) and as for catching a gay, well my much loved son is gay so I don't need to catch one, I already have one here.
I don't know why people are atheists...did they have a faith they lost? Or were they always non believers? It is however their choice and their right to choose. The only thing that rattles me is when an atheist does not accord me the same respect I give them...as I said, I don't bible bash and try and preach / convert and I don't want atheists preaching their 'belief' to me. Live and let live is what I say.

I don't think Yahoo Answers is the place where you will find the best of Atheists or the best of Christians.

The people on here who fight all the time and insult "the others" are not good people - whether what their 'beliefs' are .... and surely would embarrass anyone who was a true Atheist or Christian

And don't think that all atheists have such a strong faith. How many people who claim to be atheist celebrate Christmas, Easter etc. How many 'atheists' have you heard of crying "oh god help me" when they are on deaths bed with no other option

ok. it truly is the main considered necessary regulations of Christianity. while somebody tells you any thought of a few variety, ask them to returned it up with scripture. there is not any verse that asserts or maybe potential that Christians can not hear to secular song that does no longer have an evil message. If that have been actual, Christians could no longer watch activities or study the newspaper with the aid of fact they are secular. do on no account do what a pacesetter believes in basic terms with the aid of fact he says it is so. Jewish lifestyle is crammed with secular songs no longer recorded interior the bible. examine "Israili human beings" decrease than the hyperlink I related. do no longer even take what I say as a hundred% fact with out biblical learn. continually seem to scripture for those form of questions. :)

My Lord will keep me from falling. I am not afraid of movies, or atheists. However, I do have concern for those who are younger in the faith than I am, that they may be stumbled by some of those things. But I don't try to silence anyone, just express a counter point of view.

Faith is meaningless without Doubt. And if a Christian really thinks that atheists are working for the devil, then that is a very effective barrier against arguments of reason. How convenient for them to be able sweep logic under the rug like that. I want my two dollars.
