I heard it is illegal for members of foreign military services to wear their duty or dress uniforms within the United States unless that are going to specific events where they would need to wear it.

Is this true? Can you tell me what the law is?

Not true. You heard wrong. I live 20 minutes from Nellis Air Base. You ought to see the exchange or commissary when the base is conducting Red Flag training for NATO air forces and those of other nations. It's like a NATO parade.
And the flight personnel who go through this training also wear their dress uniforms in Las Vegas as well.

No, it's perfectly legal. What do you think Chinese soldiers wear when they come to visit? Although pretending to be a part of the US military is illegal, you won't be prosecuted in the US for wearing a Chinese military uniform even if you're not in the Chinese military.

I used to see them all the time on base but out in town not very often. I think they are much stricter about it and the personnel respect that more. I have also heard that many of the country not only celebrate there holidays her but our as well. So they are out and about a lot more than what we think enjoying themselves. So in short you would not know if they were American or not, they just blend right on in like the rest. We are such a country of much diversity now days.
