It would suprise a lot of people to know that rats are actually pretty smart! Like humans, rodents will eat almost anything, and like us, they shouldn't! I'll provide a link for things they cannot eat. If you're using store bought mix, stay away from anything containing the ingredient Ethoxyquin. This is known(by experienced owners) to cause tumors in animals. Good luck! The homemade diet below is good for all rodents.

They are the smartest of all the rodents. They will eat anything that you can eat, plus more. If it tastes good to you, they will eat it faster than anything. But be sure to feed them healthy, rat-approved treats to be on the safe side.

pet rats are so smart u can teach them to come when their name is called...and they laugh when they are tickled!!!so cute!!! they eat a pellets and for treats they love almonds and raisins, fruit, and veggies.
