I like the looks of the car, especially if its a SRT 8, my biggest problem with it, is you cannot get the car with a manual transmission. The people who complain about it being a 4 door are living in the past. Live now. There is nothing wrong with that car being a 4 door.

Wild about the car, even though it could have used a more appropriate name (viz., Polara). This sedan can hold its own against all comers in R/T trim (perhaps Ford will react by putting a 32-valve 5.4 Triton into the Crown Victoria-based Police Interceptor fleet model?); even with a 3.5-litre V6, this rig's no slouch in the corners.

My idea for "the ultimate cop car," which I envisioned as a lot of 2000 exclusively for the State of California (and by this I mean the Department of California Highway Patrol), would pack a multiport fuel injected 7.0-litre Hemi with 9.5:1 squeeze (to run 24/7 on 87-octane if need be), New Process 68RFE, and American Axle 1050-based IRS with 3.07 gears and Detroit Truetrac from the factory. Unity already makes the red and white searchlamps that are CHP-standard, but not all the interior lights I would specify are in production as of yet, neither the tandem siren speaker I envisioned for the grille (it would visually resemble a Dodge Brothers hexacle-grilled Federal Signal Q2B electromechanical growler but actually carry one forward-firing and one bipolar side-firing 100W speakers). (Incidentally, the factory billet emblems I envisioned for this design wouldn't say "CHARGER" anywhere on it--just "POLICE PURSUIT" and "HEMI(7.0-LITRE)" on the lower decklid and a special helper-side airbag cover with the California state seal and a "property of" statement.)

As for the handling of "the ultimate cop car," think SRT-8 with Daytona springing (about as stiff as this car will tolerate).

Addendum: Great point, Jacob--for civilian versions, why not make the Getrag 241 (R/T, SRT8: Tremec T56) optional? All sedans prior to the 1950's had manual gearboxes, and driving a 241 or T56 WELL is an art and one that CAN be mastered. (A no can do only for the Police Pursuit, as the floor shifter would directly conflict with the controls rack for the ELS, radios, VTR, &c.)

Do you buy a car for the resale value? No. Anyone who says they do is full of shite. Who buys anything thinking about what is going to happen to it at the end? "Oh no, I dont want to buy that sandwich, because it will be gone when I am done eating it!!" Or, "I am not gonna buy that shirt, because it will one day be thin and out of style and it will fall apart after washing it so much." If you like something, go out and buy it. The car is a nice car. It rides and handles nicely, is quiet, has decent power(I prefer the HEMI V8), and has nice features. If you do care about what the resale value is, you should lease the car. That way, whatever the resale value is, you are not stuck with it. It is the leasing companies responsibility, not yours(in most cases). Check your lease and make sure it is a closed end lease. This is a car I would buy or lease if I was in the market.

its great as a srt8, daytona trim, or a so called hemi(not really one) but it would have been better as a 2 door like the old ones in the 60s and early 70s but is fast!!

the new chargers run and drives really good,i just would have liked to have seen it done in a 2 door car instead of a 4 door, its hard to look at a 4 door car as a sporty car,but they do look good, and are selling good right now, there a good handling car to be a 4 door car, good luck and enjoy it.
