I saw the movie yesterday and I laughed because I saw no eveidence of it being anti-godly. I thought the negativity that the catholics and christians were putting agianst the film was unecessary. I too am a catholic and I was in no way threatened by the film. I think people who value their faith were so scarred about the movie was because it had to do with fantasy and magic. The Catholic church disagrees with fantasy films, but they don't have good reasons behind it. The same ordeal occurred with Harry Potter and Narnia. I encourage you to go and watch it because IF YOU TRULY HAVE FAITH, WHAT ARE YOU AFRAID OF????

It does not have any anti-god messages, but it does have a big anti-catholic message. (I was raised catholic so I feel i have a bit more right than some to say these things) but they had a megalomaniac "leader" that was all for using murder and destruction of anybody or anything that got in their way of total control of the minds of people, but they were starting with children. Nicole Kidman did a good Lucrezia Borgia imitation. So you had a megalomaniac which could be just about any pope or dictator of the last few millenia and several not-so-veiled references to the catholic churches past. It was a fun, action, very visual, emotional ride. if you are not a fanatic it is a fun movie. One critic said that the polar bears were the best part, but then I am a Sam Elliot fan also.

The author is an Atheist and wrote the books with anti-God and anti-religion themes. In a 2003 interview the author said, "My books are about killing God..." Although those themes have been greatly watered down for the movie.

Really it's not anti-god. What I've learned is that it was written by an athiest (the book the movie's based off of). One that didn't much like the man that wrote the lion the witch and the worderobe. Since he was athiest many feel it is anti god. I read the books, and I really really didn't see anything in it that was anti god. It's just another thing for stupid peole to make a fuss about.

That's it, I have to see it. You guys are great for box office sales. Me ,personally, I'm very anti-organized religion and so I'd like to experience the view points of the film. Also, hated Narnia. To me it was just stupid. No matter what metaphor, talking animals don't go over very well with me. It just makes things cheesy. Dogma, for example, great movie. What element did it lack? Talking animals and yet it still conveyed a convincing religious view point.

The Church is portrayed as extremely controlling and extremist, much as it was in the Middle Ages. It controls every aspect of people's lives and executes those who speak against it. God is also shown as not a being higher than other sentient life, merely the first organism to become conscious. He is basically shown as a kind of joke, and then he dies of old age (about 30,000 years old) in the end. Nobody ever actually kills him, as many accuse the book of saying. I haven't seen the movie, but the books are excellent.

I haven't read or seen it, but if the church has decided to make as big a deal about this as they did about Da Vinci Code, someone really needs to inform a high ranking religious authority that fiction isn't real. That's information I feel everyone should have. It's entertainment for entertainment's sake, chill out and let it be.

I'm not sure but its annoying how people make a fuss over a movie... NO one is forcing anyone to watch it. I'm an Atheist and did I complain when Passion of the Christ was shown? Nope...

I saw a news cast this morning where it was said that the author says that he writes books "to kill God" If you are a Christian dont waste your time or money. In fact a Crhistian has no business going to a movie that hates or wants to kill God.

The author was an avowed atheist and did not like the Catholic church, which is now attempting to get people to not see the movie. The effect seems to be exactly the opposite - they should have just remained quiet instead.
