to be honest i fell the same way sometimes when i'm home alone so i know exactaly how you feel. whenever theres a little sound i jump or i feel like there is someone there when there isnt. this is what i did. first i would look all over the house to make sure no one was there and of coure no one is there then i would remind my self that the doors are locked and no one can get in then i would watch tv to get my mind off of it. thats all you need to do find a distraction and if anything just keep reminding your self your the only one there. i think maybe this is happening because if you watch any scary movies your mind stards playing around with you or maybe you just dont like being alone and you dont even know it but what ever the reson is just keep reminding your self that its just you there!!
hope i helped and good luck

I experienced some of this when I was young, but it has gone away as I have developed my thinking and lifestyle. I always have god or my friends or family utmost in my mind and it squeezes out those weird thoughts that come in when we are open and empty. Reading good material will get your mind in a better place, so read good stuff, whatever it may be for you, before you go to bed. Drink some milk, stay warm, all of this will help. Best of all, get yourself a big dog. Adopt one from the local shelter, it will help you and a dog that may not live if not for adoption.

A lot of girls I know feel this way. They are the ones who alwayse feel better with a male figure around. It's a mental thing you will have to work out if you want to overcome it.

Have you experienced a trauma? Do you have paranoid schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder? Usually (almost always) there is no "bogey man" around, but if this is really bothering you then you should tell your counselor, and if you don't have one you should definitely consider getting one.

You're probably half way to being asleep, so your mind tricks you into seeing things that aren't there.
