You need to enlist in the DEP, after which they will reserve you a training date for BMT and tech school. They will not just enlist you directly into the Regular Air Force and ship you straight out.

They can make it move quickly, depending on your qualifications and the job you apply for...but not instantaneous.

DEP is soooo NOT A MUST! Well, after you go to MEPS you get into the DEP program automatically but if your case is anything like mine was you wont be in there for long. I went to MEPS on a friday and left the following Wednesday. I wasnt as prepared physically for bmt as the rest of the trainees in my flight but everything was fine. Just make sure that this is what you want.

Delayed entry is usually for those in school and need to schedule BMT to await high school graduation or end a semester. Without delayed entry it can still be a few months to go to BMT or a little as a few weeks. Depends on the paperwork and a spot at Lackland.

you still need to do the DEP thing. I was only in the DEP for two months. Infact I went into the DEP on my 18th birthday and was in boot camp 2 months later. It really depends on the needs of the air force and what job you want and what is available. But the process can be sped up but it might not be exactly what you want

In the Air Force, DEP is a must. The USAF is a very occupied branch and there are not enough jobs to ship people the second they sign up. You will have to wait upwards of one month in order to get a job that you are qualified for. Once that job "drops" or becomes open, you will be sent to BMT shortly thereafter. Good Luck.

You have to go into the DEP. After you do, thats when they can put you in a slot for basic and tech school. But, it can go extremely quick. I was in the DEP for a total of 6 days before I shipped off.

Yes, you can ship to AF Basic training soon.

But you will have to take whatever job they offer.

You will have no choice about the job at all.

Normally you go into DEP, because your basic training start date, is based on when your Tech School starts.

But they always have people who dropped out of DEP for one reason or another, where there is an openning for you to ship to basic quickly.

But even then, it will not be immediantly.

EVERYBODY goes through DEP.. it's just a matter of how long you are in DEP. you can choose to ship ASAP if you are not picky about what job you get.
