i have a 12 1/2 week old german shepherd. he pees all the time anywhere he wants. including in his crate....which is the right size for him. when i got him he was 8 weeks and he always asked to go out and i praised his an praised him for it..but then he stopped asking and he would pee on the floor...with no warning so i took him to the vet and she put him on antibiotics for possible bladder infection. after the 7 days there was no change. i have tried leaving nothing but i toy in his crate with him and he still pees. if i leave blankets he pees on them then pushes them aside. im taking him out about every hour. Every day i continue to watch him like a hawk.... and im letting him out about every half hour when hes loose. A few nights i have been real tired and not woken up to take him out and he has been able to hold it 5 hours. but normally he has trouble with and hour...im really puzzled.... if any one has had a similar experience can u tell me how it turned out please???

To The first Answerer!!!!
I got a puppy because i wanted a puupy. i have the patience to deal with one..i just wanted to know if anyone had a way to teach him that peeing in his crate is not good. And as far the the infection goes he was treated for possible having one. and there was no result from it. he peed the same after the meds as before!

This pup is not "giving you a hard time". he is just being a pup. If you did not have the time and patience to train him, or wait until he can hold it all night, you should have gotten an adult dog.

Now get some perspective on this - have patience with training the dog, don't be resentful of him for what he can't help. Some puppies need longer than others before they can hold it all night, and you have already said he might have a bladder infection.

You may need to get a smaller crate if he can do it on a blanket and has room to push it out of the way then the crate is probably to big for right now.
Also what are you doing when he does do it inside.??
He should be told no firmly and taken dierctly outside. Also wehn he does do it outside he should be praised. tehi means you should be out in the yard with teh pup as well not just put out.
Do realize pups don't get full control until 6-8 months old.

when my puppy was peeing all over the dining room our trainer told us to put her food in there she continued to pee but it soon stopped. I can't speak for the crate except to say that they usually don't eliminate unless left in the crate too long how you tell is 1 hour per age plus 2 to a maximum of 8 hours.

Puppies have to be supervised constantly - they don't know they are not supposed to pee on the floor or in their crate. You have to be patient, take him out immediately after he eats or takes a nap or after play time. It takes weeks to house train a puppy - please don't think it will happen overnight. And please don't hit or scold him, but rather praise him when he does do the right thing! (sounds like you are doing this already.) Bottom line - patience. You will wake up one day and your puppy will not pee in your house and you will look back on this and know you did the right thing.
