There is no legal procedure..but there is a reward for shopping him..do it now. How is it you can spell procedure but cant spell illegal or settle?

He can't settle here unless he has been here for 14 years and can prove it.
That rule could change in the next 5 years.
There will be charities that can advise him.

Pretending to be foreign by deliberately misspelling words does not fool anyone. If you were genuine, why would you want to shop your friend now after 9 years? It all points to mischief!!

To settle here, he has to go back to his home country and apply from there. He's best off not mentioning that he's been here illegally.

Why am I not surprised?

How many 'safe' countries did he/you pass through to get here? Why did you/he not stay in, say, France???....anything to do with free housing, free medical treatment and generous handouts available here???...Surely not!

There is none. If he tries to apply to settle he will be deported at once and told to apply from his country of origin....and quite right too!

You cannot know what options there are for him so he has two choices. One is to remain in the UK illegally but he will always be illegal and the other is to hand himself in and get a good solicitor to represent him.Maybe you could talk to a solicitor on his behalf to see what the solicitor thinks. If he owns up to being illegal it could go well or go badly.I would not like to be in his shoes.Good luck.

I'm with Stuengland2004 - there's too many foreginers in this country already. If we can get rid of only one of them, it'll help.
