Anesthesia is very hard on the body! It may take a few days for him to get back to normal. Keep him comfy and try to get him to drink as much water as possible. Many cats prefer the running water out of a faucet. If your kitty prefers this, take him to the bath tub and leave a trickle running for a while to let him get the water.

It takes some animals longer to get over the effects of the anesthesia so that might be the problem. He will be okay not eating for one day as long as he is drinking something. If he does not drink, you can take a straw or an eye dropper and dribble water in his mouth. Mix a little Karo syrup or sugar into the water so he is getting some nutrients. He should be okay tomorrow and if not call the vet again. Its his job to do follow-up on a surgery.

It sounds like he had a bad reaction to the anastesia. Most cats (and most people) come through surgery OK, but there are always a few exceptions and it sounds like your poor guy is one of these. Did you talk to the vet after you gave him the meds? Make sure she knows what's going on with him. Also, you may need to re-administer the med that he threw up. Good luck with him. I hope he improves quickly for you. Oh and you did NOTHING wrong here! You were trying to provide for him in the best way possible. This is NOT something you could have seen coming.

Must have food, otherwise liver failure will start within two-three days of no eating. Syringe the cat if you have to. Go get baby syringes from the drugstore and fill them with a mashup of water and food.
I'm pretty sure he'll puke it up for the first day, but keep an a close eye on how much he eats over the next few days. Liver failure isn't pretty

I would call the vet again and tell her he threw up the med. Definitely if he gets worse. Some don't handle anesthesia well, but they use much less for a neuter than spay, so this bears watching.

It could still be effects from the anesthesia, but keep an eye on him. (It could be kinda like a hangover.) Some animals don't bounce back after that as fast as others. Feed him small amounts and make sure he's drinking some water. If you have to, smear some canned food on his mouth. If he doesn't perk up by tomorrow morning, consider calling the emergency clinic.

He's just had surgery, and he's still getting the anesthetic out of his system, which usually takes 24 hours. Make sure he eats and drinks. If he's still doing this after the second day then he needs to go back for an evaluation.
