So, my manager just hired a new employee at the store I work at and she is a complete nut. She's an older woman, and is total bizarre. One of those women that you see hugging trees and counting the toes on her feet. Any suggestions on how to deal with this???

If she is just a tree hugger no problem but if she has mental health issues let the company deal with it. They will help her get help or get rid of her without you doing or saying anything.

Just smile, be polite. Don't get involved in any "life discussions" with someone like that, you're only asking for trouble :) Basically, if she doesn't disrupt your work, just let her be. If there is a situation where you feel like she has done something wrong, treat her like you would anyone else-- try to forget that she's a little peculiar.

Is her behavior harming anyone? Best to be friendly and ask polite questions rather than pre-judging her. Otherwise people will begin to think you are the nut - because of your over-reaction.

Does she bother you, like talking to you when you don't want her to? If not, then you should leave her alone.
